Post-Construction Cleaning

Post-construction cleaning that gets a new space ready to live in

After the contractors leave, fine dust is on every surface and inside every cabinet. We clean new builds and renovations in Georgetown, Millsboro, Lewes and nearby towns so they are ready for move-in.

What post-construction cleaning includes with us

Construction dust behaves differently from household dust. Drywall sanding, tile cutting and trim work create extremely fine particles that float for hours and settle everywhere: on top of door frames, inside light fixtures, in cabinet drawers, along window tracks and deep in the grain of new floors. A standard cleaning moves this dust around. A post-construction cleaning removes it in stages until it is gone.

We work with homeowners who have just finished a kitchen or bathroom remodel, families moving into a new build, and builders or contractors who need a unit ready for a final walk-through. Across Sussex County, new construction around Georgetown, Millsboro, Millville and Lewes has picked up in recent years, and each finished home needs the same thing before anyone moves in: a careful, methodical cleaning of every surface the crew touched.

The first pass focuses on debris and loose dust. Leftover materials, packaging and scraps are gathered for disposal in the location you designate, and a vacuum with fine filtration is used on surfaces and floors before anything wet touches them. Wiping drywall dust with a damp cloth too early smears it into a paste, so the order matters.

The detail pass follows. Stickers and manufacturer labels come off windows, fixtures and appliances. Paint specks and caulk smears are removed from glass, tile and hardware with the right tool for each surface, so new finishes are not scratched. Cabinets are cleaned inside and out, window tracks are vacuumed and wiped, and light fixtures, vents and outlet covers are dusted.

The final pass is the one that makes a space feel finished. Floors are cleaned according to their material, fixtures are polished, and the whole space gets one more round of dusting to catch what settled while the other work happened. If the timeline allows, we recommend a short touch-up visit a few days later, because fine dust can keep settling after the HVAC system runs for the first time.

Benefits of professional post-construction cleaning

Move-in ready spaces

The home or unit is clean enough to unpack, furnish and live in the same week.

New finishes protected

Correct tools and products remove residue from tile, glass, stainless and wood without scratching or dulling.

Dust removed in stages

Dry, then detail, then final passes keep fine particles from turning into smears.

A better final walk-through

Builders and remodelers present a clean space to clients, which reflects well on the whole project.

Healthier indoor air

Clearing fine dust from vents, returns and ledges reduces what circulates once the system runs.

Flexible scheduling

Visits can be timed around inspections, final punch lists and move-in dates.

How a post-construction cleaning visit works

  1. Site review

We confirm the scope, square footage, finishes and when the trades will be off site.

  2. Rough clean

Debris and loose dust are cleared with dry methods and fine-filter vacuums.

  3. Detail clean

Labels, paint, adhesive and grout haze are removed surface by surface.

  4. Final clean

Floors, fixtures, glass and a final dust pass bring the space to move-in condition.

  5. Touch-up

An optional return visit catches dust that settles after the HVAC runs.

Why hire a professional for post-construction cleaning

Post-construction cleaning is hard on the wrong tools and easy to get wrong. A razor scraper at the wrong angle scratches glass, an acidic cleaner on new grout can discolor it, and a wet mop on drywall dust leaves a film that shows up the first time sunlight hits the floor. Experience with the sequence and the materials is what prevents those mistakes.

It is also a time problem. Contractors want to close out the job, and homeowners want to move in. A trained team can take a dusty, just-finished space to clean and ready in a day or two, instead of the homeowner spending weeks wiping down the same surfaces as dust keeps appearing.

Still deciding whether post-construction cleaning is the right fit? Our FAQ page covers booking and scheduling, and you can see every town we serve.

Post-Construction Cleaning questions

After the trades have finished their work and the space is no longer an active job site. Painting, flooring and fixture installation should be complete.

We gather light debris and packaging to a disposal point you designate, such as a dumpster on site. Heavy materials and hauling remain with the contractor.

We can do a rough clean between phases, but the final clean should happen once work is done so new dust does not undo it.

Yes. We clean new builds, remodels and units for builders and renovation companies, as well as for homeowners.

Yes. Paint specks and overspray are removed from glass with proper blades and techniques that protect the glass.

Fine dust keeps settling for several days, especially after the heating or cooling system starts. A short follow-up catches it.

It depends on square footage, the type of work done and the finishes. We review the space or photos before giving a quote.
